The Kogi Government said on Tuesday that it had completed 23 water projects abandoned at various stages by previous administrations in the state.

The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr Salami Ozigi, said this while speaking with newsmen after a visit to the multi-billion naira Greater Lokoja Water Plant in Lokoja.

He said that the water projects, which were spread across the three senatorial districts, were rehabilitated and inaugurated between March 2016 and June 2017.

According to him, some of the completed water projects are located at Nagazi and Kuroko in Adavi Local Government Area, Obangede in Okehi Local Government Area and Magongo in Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area.

Others, he said, were at Aiyegunle-Gbede and Ogidi in Ijumu Local Government Area, Mopa in Mopa -Muro Local Government Area and Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area.

He said the rest were located at Imane in Ofu Local Government Area, Ajaka in Igalamela-Odolu Local Government Area and Oguma in Bassa Local Government Area.

He said that his visit to the Greater Lokoja waterworks was to assess the state of facilities at the treatment plant.

Ozigi said the government had also rehabilitated the old Lokoja water works to complement supply from the Greater Lokoja plant as part of efforts to increase water supply in the capital and its environs.

He said the contract for the metering of water supply to houses and industries in Lokoja metropolis had been awarded, adding that this would curb wastage and boost internally generated revenue.
