Ex-Vice Chairman of Odi Olowo/ Ojuwoye Local Council Development Development (LCDA), Raska Ajala has emerged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Saturday local government election holding throughout Lagos State after winning the rescheduled primary election.

The exercise took place at the Solomon Hall, Odio Olowo Mushin, following last week’s pronouncement by a High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos that the APC should conduct fresh primaries in the LCDA.

The primary election was conducted amid tight security mounted by armed police officers.

Ajala, who was the candidate the APC earlier nominated before the court ordered fresh primaries defeated five other contestants with a margin of 169 votes, with the closest rival, Mr. Hakeem Saka, scoring nine votes.

The Returning Officer, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, while announcing the result after the counting of the votes, declared Ajala as the flagbearer of APC in the coming council election having satisfied the necessary requirements.

However, the presence of armed police officers at the Solomon Hall, Odio Olowo Mushin and surrounding prevented hoodlums from disrupting the exercise.

Meanwhile, what could have been a barrier to Ajala’s participation in the poll on Saturday had been removed by the State House of Assembly, which passed into law the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission Amendment Bill 2017 on Tuesday.
