Kano Assembly calls for rehabilitation of major roads

The Kano State House of Assembly on Wednesday called on the State Government to rehabilitate three major roads in Tarauni Local Government Area of the state.

The assembly made the call following a motion presented before the house by a member representing Tarauni Constituency, Alhaji Abubakar Zakari.

According to the legislature, one of the roads from Karkasara area to Yan Katako Zaria road is one of the major alternative routes used by motorists plying the Zaria road.

“Whenever there is a hold up along the main Zaria road from the city, the Karkasara road is the major alternative for motorists to avoid the congestion”, he said.

Zakari added that “the other road which starts from Hotoro Tsamiyar Mashaya through Unguwa uku motor Park to Maiduguri road is in bad condition and needs serious attention.

Also, there is another road from Yan Tsaki to Masallacin Murtala, through Zoo Road which also needs Government attention because it caused serious challenges to the people of the area due to its bad condition.

The motion was seconded by a member representing Kumbotso Local Government, Alhaji Naziru Zakari and unanimously adopted by the members.

During the plenary session, the Assembly also called on the Government to reconstruct a collapsed bridge in Bunkure Local Government Area of the state which collapsed over a year ago.

The call also followed a motion of urgent public importance presented by a member representing Bunkure Local Government, Alhaji Muhammad Uba and seconded by a member representing Rano Constituency, Alhaji Kabiru Rurum.

According to the legislature, the bridge which links Bunkure, Rano and Kibiya Local Government Areas, is in bad shape and caused untold hardship to the people of the areas.

During the plenary session, the members unanimously adopted the motion and urged the state government to reconstruct the dilapidated roads with a view to alleviating the hardship being experienced by the affected communities.
