An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday granted N500,000 bail to a 20-year-old applicant, Mukaila Nurudeen, for allegedly gang raping a teenager.
Nurudeen, who resides at Oshodi, a suburb of Lagos, is standing trial for conspiracy and rape.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Folakemi Davies-Abegunde, who granted the bail, ordered the accused to produce two sureties in like sum.
Davies-Abegunde adjourned the case until July 21 for mention.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Rapheal Donny, had told the court that the offence was committed on June 13 at Church St., Oshodi, Lagos.
Donny said that the accused and one other at large lured the 15-year-old girl into the accused house and gang raped her.
He said that matter was reported to the police by the victim’s mother. While Nurudeen was arrested, his accomplice escaped.
The offences contravened Sections 259 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Nurudeen pleaded not guilty to the charges.
