Eid-el-Fitri: Abia residents assured of adequate security

The Police Command in Abia on Friday assured  people of the state that it had taken adequate measures to protect lives and property throughout the Eid-el-fitri celebration.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Leye Oyebade, gave the assurance in a statement issued by the command’s Spokesman, Mr Geoffrey Ogbonna in Umuahia.

Oyebade assured the residents of adequate security before, during and after the celebration.

He said: “the command has put in place adequate security architecture to protect
designated prayer venues, motor parks and recreation centres before, during and after the Eid.’’

The commissioner urged Muslims “to use the period of the celebration to reflect on the nation’s present economic and political situation.

“They should pray fervently for God’s intervention to make government’s economic recovery plans achieved the desired goals.”

The Federal Government on Thursday declared Monday and Tuesday as public holiday for the Eid celebration.
