Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to trigger the €100 million buyout clause in Jan Oblak’s Atletico Madrid contract, Goal understands.

The Slovenia international has been the subject of intense speculation heading into the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are said to be considering the 24-year-old as uncertainty continues to shroud the future of David de Gea, although interest from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal is believed to have eased.

Any interested party will, however, have to meet Atletico’s demands if a deal is to be done, and that means a record-breaking offer will need to be tabled.

But PSG are willing to spend big on a proven performer. The Ligue 1 giants possess the financial muscle required to force through a transfer and consider reinforcements in the goalkeeping department to be a top priority.

Atletico, who have already fended off interest in Antoine Griezmann this summer, will be reluctant sellers as they have been stung by a transfer embargo.

There is, however, little they can do if a buyout clause is met and the player in question expresses a desire to move on.

Oblak has not done that as yet, but did not sound wholly convinced while discussing his future with Sportal recently.

He said: “In football you never know, even one day before the market closes news comes out.”
