An Abuja-based media practitioner, Mrs Henrietta Momodu, has urged the National Assembly to evolve ways to ensure that laws made by it were enforced.

She said that the assembly should ensure bother about the non-compliance with its motions and resolutions by the executive, especially government agencies and departments.

Momodu said in Abuja that the 8th Assembly had, however, demonstrated some level of commitment to duty when compared with previous sessions.

According to her, the 8th National Assembly has carved a niche for itself, considering its dedication to its responsibility which culminated in the high number of motions and bills it passed in two years.

Momodu also urged the leadership of both chambers of the assembly to check cases of absence, lateness and early departure from plenary by members.

“In all, I say the 8th assembly, especially the House of Representatives, is unique.

“Perhaps, what it has working for it, is the fact that they chose their leaders themselves.

“The ‘banana peel’ theory never surfaced in two years in spite of claims and counterclaims during the budget padding saga,” she said.
