“The Conservative Party will not be campaigning nationally today. We will review as the day goes on and as more details of the attack emerge,” said a spokesman.
The move marks the second time campaigning in this election has been halted in response to a terrorist attack. Campaigning also stopped in the wake of the attack in Manchester that left 22 dead.
The Labour party leader, Jeremy Corbyn also tweeted that the party was suspending campaigning for the election due to the attacks.
