NAF applauded for its contributions in tackling security

Air Vice Marshal Emmanuel Edem, (rtd) has applauded the contributions of the Nigerian Air force in tackling the security challenges facing Nigeria.

He made the commendation on Wednesday in Yenagoa during the inauguration of residential accommodation for principal officers of the Mobility Command of the Nigerian Air force.

Edem observed that the efforts of the Air force in tackling renewed militancy and insurgency in the Niger Delta had earned it respect and accolades amongst the miltary.

He said that the provision of suitable accommodation and other welfare packages was critical to boost the morale of officers and airmen.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the six units of two bedroom apartments were inaugurated by Edem who was the guest of honour at the occasion.

He was assisted by the Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who was represented by Vice Marshall James Gbum.

In his remarks, Gbum reiterated the commitment of the Chief of Air Staff to transforming the Nigerian Air force into a professional and disciplined force.

He said that the leadership of the Air force was embarking on similar projects across its formations in the country using direct labour approach to save cost.

Also speaking, Air Vice Marshal S. I. Onu,  Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command, Yenagoa, said that the provision of residential accommodation was aimed at enhancing the  the operational capacity of the command.

He recalled that when the command hosted the Chief of Air Staff in September 2016, he inaugurated eight blocks of building at the mini air force base in Yenagoa.

He added that the additional facility was a boost to the command.

Onu urged the principal officers to redouble their efforts and be committed to duty to justify the efforts of the air force to provide conducive working and residential environment for them.
