Special Adviser to the Lagos state governor on Sports, Deji Tinubu ,on Friday in Lagos reiterated the determination of the state government on sports development.

Tinubu, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) on the sidelines of “Rhumbles in Lagos” event , said that engaging global sport icons in training greenhorns was his new task.

According to him, Gov. Ambode led administration is determined to  ensure  Lagos is in the forefront of restoring sports to its glory.

“Creating platforms to connect our local sportsmen to professionals in their field abroad will help their psyche.

“We will do everything within our reach to ensure we take the lead in reviving sports in the country,”he said.

Tinubu said that though the state government recently earmarked N12.6 billion for construction and rehabilitation of sports facilities, global icons were being contacted to re-brand sports in the state.

He assured prospective investors with intentions to helping rebuild sports in the country, not to hesitate in doing so as the state would protect their interest.

NAN reports that Evander Holyfield was in Lagos for the long awaited bout with Bola Tinubu.

The ‘Rhumbles in Lagos”, a was charity fight as part of the ceremonies marking the 50th anniversary of the creation of Lagos State.

The event took place at the Landmark Event Centre in Victoria Island.
