Labourer Bags 6 Months Imprisonment

A Mararaba Chief Magistrates’ Court, Nasarawa State, on Friday sentenced a labourer, Musa Saide, 27, to six months in prison for criminal trespass.

Saide, resident of Mararaba, had pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of criminal trespass and attempt to commit an offence of theft leveled against him and was sentenced accordingly.

The Magistrate, Vincent Gwahemba, gave the convict an option to pay fine of N3, 000 and advised him to desist from committing any crime.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Samuel Okoro, had told the court that one Abubakar Musa of Old Karu Road, Mararaba, reported the matter at the ‘A’ Division Police Station on May 22.

Okoro said that on the same date, the convict entered the complainant house, at the above mentioned address without his consent.

He said that the convict entered there with an intention to steal anything valuable.

The prosecutor said that during police interrogation, the convict admitted committing the offence, which contravened Sections 95 and 345 of Penal Code.
