Gov. Abubakar Bello of Niger on Friday called on Nigerians to eschew bitterness and pray for peace to reign among different ethnic groups in the country.

He made the call in Minna when the All Progressives Congress (APC) presented him an award of excellence for projects execution as part of activities marking his two years anniversary in office.

Bello urged Nigerians irrespective of religious and ethnic differences to pray for peace, development and growth of the nation.

He also urged Muslims to use the period of Ramadan to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and the success of the present administration.

The governor commended the APC supporters for their support and commitment toward government’s programmes and policies.

“As government, we will continue to stride in areas that will benefit the less-privileged in the society.

“We commended your support and patience even at this period of recession,” he said, adding that plans were underway to ensure adequate supply of water to Minna, Suleja, Bida and Kontagora areas.

Earlier, Alhaji Mohammed Imam, APC state Chairman, had commended the state government for empowering youths, improving the standard of education and provision of quality health care services in the state.

He said that since the inception of the present administration, the party had received about 5000 defectors from other parties to the ruling party.

The event witnessed thirty four other members receiving awards of excellence and membership legacy awards respectively.

These included Alhaji Ahmed Ibeto, Former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahemd Marafa, Speaker, state House of Assembly, Mr John Paul, Member Representing Munya, and Alhaji Umar Bahago, Member House of Rep.
