Wife of Katsina State governor, Hajiya Hadiza Aminu-Masari, on Wednesday distributed foodstuff to various women groups in 11 local government areas of Katsina south senatorial zone.

Mrs Aminu-Masari said the items were provided by the wife of the President, Hajiya A’ishatu Muhammadu Buhari, to cushion the beneficiaries’ hardship ahead of the Muslim Ramadan fasting.

The News agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the beneficiaries were drawn from all the political wards in the senatorial district.

The items included cartons of sugar, tomato paste, peak milk and bags of rice.

She urged the distribution committee to ensure transparency as the items were assistance and could not cater for all women at a time.

She, however, urged the women to reciprocate the gesture by living in peace, and engage in viable economic ventures that would complement their husband’s efforts to sustain the family.

The governor’s wife described women as facilitators of all developments in the society because they are the custodians of children and households in the communities.

According to her, dressing in proper uniforms has been identified as a hitch to women’s education especially in secondary schools.

“I partnered with Katsina State Agricultural and Rural Development Agency (KTARDA) and distributed tree seedlings to school girls.

“Economic trees were also included to ensure continued benefits to incoming students,” she said.

In her remark, All Progressives Party (APC) Women leader in Funtua zone, Hajiya A’isha Yahaya, applauded the gesture and commended the president’s wife on her resolve to support women in the country.

Some of the beneficiaries, Hajiya Lubabatu Usman and Malama Binta Nura, said the gesture would surely assist them during the fasting period.

Speaking earlier, the Acting Chairman of Funtua Local Government Council, Alhaji Abdullahi Kutawa, described the support as timely as it would cushion the lives of residents.

He urged individuals, religious groups and community leaders to ensure routine prayers for good health of Buhari at all occasions.
