NSE market capitalisation inches N4 bn

Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday ended on a cautious note, with the market indices appreciating marginally.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that market capitalisation rose by N4 billion to close at N9.712 trillion against the N9.708 trillion recorded on Monday.

Similarly,  the All-Share Index increased by 15 points or 0.05 per cent to close at 28,093.30 compared with 28,078.30 on Monday.

Nestle recorded the highest price gain, leading the gainers’ table with N14 to close at N850 per share.

Nigerian Breweries came second with N3.16 to close at N144 and Glaxosmithkline increased by 57k to close at N16 per share.

Ecobank Transnational Incorporated appreciated by 31k to close at N9.62, while Air Service improved by 21k to close at N4.27 per share.

Conversely, Total topped the losers’ chart for the day,  dropping by N9.99 to close at N260.01 per share.

Dangote Cement trailed with a loss of 99k to close at N162.01, while  United Bank for Africa lost 23k to close at N6.99 per share.

CCNN dipped 22k to close at N4.61, while Dangote Flour declined by 21k to close at N4.13 per share.

FBN Holdings drove the activity chart , exchanging 27.86 million shares worth N113.12 million.

Diamond Bank followed with an exchange of 27.66 million shares valued at N24.65 million and Fidelity Bank traded 19.22 million shares worth N18.28 million.

Guaranty Trust Bank sold 14.29 million shares valued at N458.82 million, while Zenith Bank accounted for 12.79 million shares worth N226.71 million.

In all, investors staked  N2.18 billion on 212.69 million shares transacted in 3,908 deals against 208.34 million  shares valued at N3.74 billion  traded in  3,498 deals on Monday.
