Lagos indigenes have warned militants killing and maiming residents to stay away from Lagos as they would be force to take drastic action to remedy the situation.

The indigenes under the aegis of Eko Heritage said kidnapping had never been a culture in Lagos, but lamented that since the incursion of militants, the pervading peace in the state was being disturbed.

The group, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Femi Scott and the Vice Chairman, A.B. Suluka, said it would not fold its hands and allow things to degenerate in Lagos.

“Kidnapping is not part of our culture in Lagos, as we are peaceful and accommodating in nature. So, we employ those who are doing this to stay away from Lagos, because our hospitality is not stupidity,” it said.

The group, however, commended the Lagos State Government and other security agencies for a job well done in combating crime in the state so far, adding that it was also of the belief that the recent launch of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps Agency, would help in reducing crime in the state.

Eko Heritage said it was pleased with the stand of the House of Representatives for the bold step it took in re-opening the bill for a special status for Lagos, while calling on Nigerians to rise up and support the bill in ordr to make it a reality for the good of Lagos.

The group also berated the Arewa Youth wing of the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation its recent attack on Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, saying that the attack by the youth wing was borne out of little knowledge about the history of Lagos.

On Lagos at 50 celebration, the group said it believed it would be a huge success as the event would certainly improve the economic base of Lagos but catapulting the state as a major tourism hub in the world.
