Lionel Messi displayed classical and artistic football to grab a brace for Barcelona against Real Madrid in El-Clasico, as the Catalans triumphed 3-2 to move top of La Liga.

Messi was the super hero of the night as he torn apart the Real Madrid team and their fans.

Cristiano Ronaldo was wasteful for Madrid as he missed several chances he supposed to have converted for the home side.

Madrid opened scoring when Casemiro lashed on to a ball from Sergio Ramos which hit the post to net in for Madrid in the 28th minute of the game.

The visitors responded in the 33rd minute when Messi’s brilliancy took Madrid’s defence by surprise, dribbling defenders before slotting the ball inside the net.

Ivan Rakitic gave Barcelona 2-1 lead with a superb strike in the 73rd minute of the game shortly after Ronaldo waste a chance to put Madrid on the lead.

Captain, Sergio Ramos was giving a straight red card for his foul on Messi in the 77th minute of the game.

Madrid’s coach, Zidane brought in James Rodriguez in a bid to salvage the game for the home side and it paid off immediately as he equalised for 10-man Madrid in the 86th minute of the encounter.

With two minutes added time, Messi scored a brilliant goal on the dead of injury time to bury the game and win it for Barcelona who are now tied on points with Madrid but top La Liga with superior goal difference.

Madrid can still go top if they win their game against Celta Vigo, but for now, Barcelona are on top of La Liga.
