An Ota Senior Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Wednesday sentenced a 24-year-old man to one month imprisonment for stealing a hen and eggs valued at N3,000.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr S. O. Banwo, however, gave the convict an option of N3,000 fine.
The convict, whose address was not disclosed in the court, had pleaded guilty to the charge.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 5 at about 5.00 a.m. at Tiwadayo Community, Atan, Ota.
Gbesi said that the convict stole a hen and eggs valued at N3,000 belonging to one Usman Tajudeen.
He said that the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
