FC Abuja  on Friday defeated visiting Adamawa United Football Club of Yola 1-0 in a week three match of the 2016/2017 Nigeria National League (NNL).

Both teams fought hard but could not turn their efforts into goals in the match played at the Area 3 football pitch in Abuja.

Sunday Olarewaju scored the only goal of the match 10 minutes after the break, with Adamawa United FC struggling to get an equalizer but losing many scoring chances.

Speaking after the match, the Head Coach of FC Abuja, Henry Hassan, praised his team for the victory, saying the team had done well.

“I am happy with the performance of my team. The boys have done well. Though, we still have so much work to do.

“We will however go back to the drawing board and concentrate on some of the errors we had in this match.  That way my team will next time perform better than this,” he said.

On his part, Adamawa United FC’s coach Joshua Stephen also commended the performance of his team in spite of their loss.

“My players did well, even though we lost. There was a loss of concentration from my defence. That is the reason why we lost the game.
“Now, we will be going back to the drawing board and do the necessary corrections before our next match in Yola,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in their next matches on April 7, Adamawa  United will take on Taraba  United while FC Abuja will tackle Afe Babalola FC of Ado-Ekiti.
