The Nasarawa State Chapter of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has zoned the 2019 governorship ticket to Nasarawa North Senatorial Zone.
Mr Musa Saidu, the state APGA Chairman who disclosed this on Thursday in Lafia, said the decision was to ensure fairness to all the three senatorial zones of the state.
He explained that the party zoned the ticket to Nasarawa North following calls by various interest groups from the zone, including traditional rulers.
“Following the demands of the people of Nasarawa North Senatorial district to produce the next governor of the state come 2019, the leadership of our party has zoned it to the zone.
“Since the inception of the Fourth Republic in 1999 till date, all the other two zones in the state had produced the governor except Nasarawa North.’’
He explained that APGA is the party that believes in justice, equity and fairness.
“See, I am the chairman of APGA in the state, we have zoned the position there because they have not tested it before, what have the people there done wrong, are they not part of this state,” Saidu asked.
He criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) state administration for not conducting local government election.
The APGA chairman advised the state government to respect the court judgment that sacked the Interim Management Committee Chairmen (IMC) of 11 out of the 13 local government areas.
