The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Nasarawa State said on Wednesday that two students had died in separate accidents in the state during the week.

The Assistant Corp Commandant, Keffi Unit command, Abdulatef Awodi, disclosed this while speaking in Keffi.

Awodi said one of the victims was a 400 level student of Accounting of the Nasarawa State University who was killed by an articulated vehicle.

He said the other was a lady from Keffi town that was crushed to death by a vehicle.

“Within the last two days, two ladies have been crushed to death by vehicles in Keffi.

“One of the victims was a 400 level female Accounting student of the State University that was crushed to death by a tipper.

“Another lady was also crushed to death by another vehicle. If these drivers maintain low-speed limit even if the accident will occur, the injuries will be less.

He blamed the high rate of road accidents in the area and the state to speeding and reckless driving.

He, therefore, urged motorists to avoid speeding in the interest of their lives and those of other road users.

“We will not relent in our efforts in educating, advising and sensitising motorists on the need to do the right thing while driving.

“Motorists should avoid speeding and other distractions in order to save their lives and the lives of passengers,” Awodi said.
