Teenage cultist remanded over alleged murder

An 18-year-old suspected cultist, Isijola Olusola, was on Tuesday remanded in Olokuta Prison by an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly conspiring to kill one Wande Osabiyi.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-manuel, ordered the remand of the accused person in prison custody pending the receipt of legal advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

She added that the original copy of the case file is sent to the State Chief Registrar for safe keeping.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Martins Olowofeso said that the accused conspired with others at large to kill one Wande Osabiyi during a face-off between two cult groups.

Olowofeso noted that both the accused and the victim were members of different fraternities.

According to the prosecutor, the accused person committed the offences at Egberin Street, Owo in Ondo State on Jan. 3, at about 9:30 am

He said that the offences contravened Sections 324 of the Criminal Code Cap. 37, Vol.1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The plea of the accused person was not taken.

The court adjourned the case to Feb. 28 for legal advice.
