The immediate past registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Dibu Ojerinde, has described Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communications as a worthy ambassador of Sakiland, and Oke-Ogun, in general.

Dibu gave this commendation at the commissioning of ultra-modern information communication technology (ICT) centres and motorised boreholes in Saki.

Shittu facilitated the setting up of the ICT centres through the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF).

The ICT centres are located inside the Oke-Ogun Polytechnic and Parapo Community Grammar School, Saki.

The boreholes which Shittu personally built are located at Sanngo, Kinnikinni and Ayekale communities to provide drinkable water to the people of the areas.

Also speaking at the commissioning of the ICT centre, the Rector of Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Mr Matthew Oladeji, commended the minister for facilitating the projects which he said would go a long way in helping the students to acquire ICT.

In his remarks at the occasion, Shittu said a lot of communities in the world rely on ICT to generate revenue, adding that the ICT centres cost a lot of money.

He explained that the boreholes were his own personal project and promised to build three boreholes each in all the 33 local government areas of the state.

He appealed to the management of the school to use the centre for vocational training and the like to serve as a source of internally generated revenue for them.

Present at the occasion were the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in Oyo State, Prof Adeniyi Olowofela; deputy speaker of Oyo State, Barr. Musa Wasiu, Prof Yemi Odekunle from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile Ife and others.
