Rev. Minaibim Harry, Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Rivers in the 2015 elections, has decried the spate of kidnapping, robbery and violence in the state.

Harry speaking in Port Harcourt on Wednesday said that he was saddened by the development and said, “darkness is hanging over Rivers”.

He charged the Federal Government and security agencies to ensure that they protected lives and property.

“The Federal government should ensure that all these crimes and violence stop; just to conduct an election many people were killed or maimed in Rivers State,” he said.

He said that the clerics that were expected to speak up against the atrocities failed to do so.

“If we want to shine and be happy in Rivers, we need men that fear God,” the clergyman said.
