The Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has removed the Chairman of the Committee on Appropriation, Mr. Abdulmumin Jibrin as chairman of the committee.
He was replaced with Mustapha Bala Dawaki, the House Chairman on Housing, representing Kudu/Warawa federal constituency of Kano state.
Jibrin reportedly had serious disagreements with his colleagues over the handling of the controversial 2016 budget.
This development led to the clamour for his removal but the Speaker was said to have protected him following the role he played in his emergence as Speaker.
According to Dogara shortly before the house adjourned its Wednesday sitting, “He (Jibrin) met me and said he does not think he would continue as the committee chairman due to the pressure of the work.
But the Speaker maintained that Jibrin had requested for his removal from the Committee, hence, the change.
