Nearly 100 people were injured Thursday when two passenger trains collided head-on in the South African city of Durban, the broadcaster eNCA and other media reported.

About 70 people were taken to the hospital. None of them were believed to be seriously injured.

Exact details of injuries are still to be confirmed‚ as paramedics and emergency services are still on the scene.

“Shortly after 3p.m.‚ paramedics were called to the scene where they found one of the trains partially derailed and the other with severe damage to one of its coaches.

“Passengers sat or laid next to the train near the railway tracks.

“It is believed they got out of the train shortly after the collision”‚ said an official.
