The Police on Monday arraigned a sachet water hawker, Abushieye Sunday, in a Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court in Aso Pada, Nasarawa, for allegedly causing bodily harm.
The police prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Adaji told the court that the accused was arraigned for criminal conspiracy and causing grievous harm.
Adaji told the court that the complainant, Umar Musa, of Shopping Centre Mararaba, on May 14 reported the matter at the ‘A’ Divisional Headquarters, Mararaba.
He told the court that the accused inflicted injuries on the complainant’s head and mouth with a stone when he tried to intervene in a fight between the complainant and two others now at large.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 97 and 245 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The presiding officer, Mr Albert Maga, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
Maga adjourned the matter till May 27 for further hearing.
