Nigerian players on Sunday had an impressive start at the ongoing qualifiers in Abuja for the 2016 African Junior Tennis Championships (AJC).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the qualifiers which began on Sunday are holding at the tennis courts of the National Stadium in Abuja.

In one of the matches, Sani Musa beat Cote d’Ivoire Quatarra Soulemane 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 in the under-14 category.

Speaking with NAN after the match, Musa said it was a tough one because it was his first and the longest match he ever played.

“I must confess this is my first and longest match that I have ever played and it was very tough.

“I gave room for my opponent to know my weakness and he used it against me. But my next match will be different after I have rested,’’ he said.
