President Muhammadu Buhari shocked his interviewer in Paris today that he sometimes misses his way in Aso Presidential Villa, an expansive palace serving a dual purpose as office and residence for an incumbent Nigerian leader.
It was built in the late 80s and a former military president, Ibrahim Babangida first occupied it in 1991, after he moved the central government from Lagos to Abuja, months after an aborted coup.
President Buhari was also a former Nigerian leader that ruled from Dodan Barracks in Obalende Lagos, from January 1984 to August 1985, when he was toppled by Babangida.
Asked today by an interviewer on France 24, whether Aso Rock was like the Government House he left in 1985.
Buhari answered: It was not the same place. The last time I was there, I was in the barracks. This time I am in a palace. At times, I can’t find my way around. It is so big so much that it must be expensive to maintain. But it is there, it cannot be removed.”
Asked whether he is now a different man, he answered:
“I don’t think basically, I am a different man. I came back to power under a different system.”
Buhari moved into the Villa on 21 June, more than three weeks after he was sworn-in. His predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, had approved some renovation work on the Villa, which stretched far beyond his tenure.President Muhammadu Buhari shocked his interviewer in Paris today that he sometimes misses his way in Aso Presidential Villa, an expansive palace serving a dual purpose as office and residence for an incumbent Nigerian leader.

Eru ti joba, loba tan
Many commentators have no objectivity and lack critical thinking. How is Buhari response a minus? It does not necessarily mean that he gets lost in Aso Rock, he was just painting a picture of how palatial Aso Rock is as against Dodan Barrack where he occupied as a military head of state. If don’t like your president because he is not from your village, you can immigrate to another country . Buhari is ordained by God to bring back our lost glory.
ibrahim Babangida wasted the money that should have transformed Nigeria on useless projects and stole the rest. Aso Rock is a reminder of what is monumentally wrong with Nigeria structurally. Buhari is a wise man, and has wisely delivered his message and those of us who are wise got it loud and clear.
DAT,Chuks.I know your problems. And your problems are robbery, selling fake drugs, bunkery, oil theft, dupping and kidnapping. Your pple have corrupted the whole globe. When it comes to certificate and passport foggery you are not left behind.God bless our PMB! Haters should hang TRANSFORMER
Lo ba tan !!!! Let somebody buy GPS for Sai Baba to navigate Aso Villa a beg jo.
Buhari u bi wawa na (mumu)
Lat’s call a spade, a spade. This statement to me is a minus for Buhari rather than a plus. Is Aso Rock as big as Daura? Does he miss his ways while going round Daura? It is a question of age or short memory. Have you heard about a President that was said to have read a wrong speech? You don’t know that it is a question of old age. Why do you think a 5 year old boy/girl will not miss his/her way within his/her School, it is because they have a sharp brain. Let’s stop defending PMB’s inadequacies. He should put a sign post in Aso Villa or buy a GPS.
You guys are really from hell. The President said this in context of Nigerian leaders being too wasteful. Why build a fortress like Aso-rock when the most of Nigerians live in abject poverty i.e. less than #197 (one US dollar) per day. Have you being to Bourdillon in Ikoyi and you see the fortress those who have stolen Nigeria blind build while millions of Nigerians cannot afford decent accommodation.
Fela Kuti sang about this times back that when our leaders are supposed to be riding buses to office, but they ride in official cars “now they ride in bullet proof jeeps worth hundreds of millions of naira, that is a fortune”
Mumu like Chuks, DAT and Satan-eul will keep condemning what they know nothing about. Fools that is who they are as they are comfortable being slaves of the prodigal offspring.
The place is more than a palace. Babangida built it so he can live there for a very long time but Nigerians chassed him away to Minna.
ofcuz as a being…… we hav d right to be wrong sumtime…….datx a mansion u knw……..need to miss way is normal…….respect ur president ma friend
He should remember that is not forever.
@Bankole Jones, why waste you time on an empty vessel called emmanuel? They like liars who deceive people and steal money – that’s their way! Forget him!
Very low memory
Hey Emmanuel, You are a fool, Is Aso Villa a 2 bedroom apartment ? Buhari is saying the truth, he is right. Have you visited White House in Washington DC,USA or Queens Palace in London,UK before ?
