Junior international player, Obinna Nwobodo, has again commended the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, for its efforts in ensuring successful treatment of his damaged cruciate ligament.

The Flying Eagles’ midfielder returned to the country on Friday after undergoing successful surgery at Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Doha, Qatar.

He was injured during the final match of the African Youth Championship in Senegal in March, in which Nigeria beat the host nation 1-0.

“I want to say a very big ‘Thank You’ to the NFF for the efforts made concerning my surgery. I want to use this opportunity to tell the world that the story about NFF abandoning injured players is untrue.

“I was well taken care of in Qatar and the doctors were wonderful,” Nwobodo said.

Dr. Philippe Landreau attended to Nwobodo at the Aspetar and has advised the player to stay off football for the next six months for the anterior cruciate ligament to fully heal.

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said the federation is happy that the player is now healed.

“Our joy is that the operation was successful and the player can return to the game after six months. The NFF will also set as priority, the well being of our players and coaches.”

Sanusi confirmed on Thursday that the NFF is already making the necessary contacts with regards to treating injured Super Falcons’ defender Gloria Ofoegbu.
