Bricklayer Remanded Over Motorcycle Theft

An Akure Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olayinka Omole, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a 22-year-old bricklayer, Wisdom Emmanuel, at Olokuta Prison for allegedly stealing a motorcycle valued at N113,000.

The accused is facing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, but he denied committing the offences.

Omole ruled that the accused should be held in prison custody till Aug. 10 for hearing of bail application.

court of law The prosecutor, Insp. Martins Olowofeso, told the court that the accused of no fixed address and his accomplice now at large, conspired to steal a Bajaj boxer motorcycle belonging to one Danladi Arzika.

The prosecutor put the value of the motorcycle at N113,000.

Olowofeso alleged that the accused had previously been arraigned in court for a similar offence, adding that he could jump bail.

The prosecutor said the accused committed the offence on July 30, 2015 at about 2:30 p.m, at Imuagun St., Akure.

He said that the offence contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol.1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
