At least 50 universities are expected to converge on Nsukka, Enugu State in October for the 14th West African University Games.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria (UNN), Prof. Benjamin Ozumba, told newsmen in Nsukka on Wednesday that the Games would feature only football (men) and hockey (men and women).

Tracing the history of the games, Ozumba said it started as in 1965 with the University of Ibadan as the host.

He said that the Games had succeeded in breaking barriers in the sub-region, adding that the passion and emotion that sports elicit, serves as an effective advantage on the orientation of the youth.

He said that the university was good to go in terms of the state of the facilities.
