Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara on Thursday said a joint meeting of seven states in the north has resolved to fight terrorism to a standstill.

Yari made this known at his country home in Talata-Mafara in a statewide television broadcast to commemorate the Eid-El-Fitr celebration.

He said leaders of Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and Niger States met with the nation’s security chiefs and drew up a workable plan that would make the areas very difficult for criminals.

He said many states, especially in the north, were finding it difficult to meet their obligations to the people due to security challenges.

The governor, who is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, however, said the situation would soon change for the better.

He appealed to the people of the state, particularly the poor, to bear with the little the administration had been able to provide for them during the Ramadan fast.

Yari said this was caused by financial difficulties facing the nation, assuring that better days were coming.

He urged the well-to-do in the society to continue with the spirit of assisting and supporting the poor in order to guarantee a peaceful future.

Yari advised parents to watch over their children and ensure that the females among them wore good dresses that conformed to Islamic tenets during the Sallah celebration.
