Dr Ade Abolurin, Commandant-General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Tuesday warned vandals of government infrastructure to desist or face the full wrath of the law.

This was contained in a statement by CSC Emmanuel Okeh, Public Relation Officer of NSCDC and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

It said the corps as a creation of government by the Act of Parliament of 2003 as amended in 2007 was saddled with responsibility of protecting the Nations Critical Infrastructure and National Assets,

The statement mentioned the critical infrastructure to include others protection of Petroleum Pipelines, Gas Installations, Telecommunication Equipments, Transport and Rail.

It said in fighting the ugly menace called vandalism, the corps had recorded tremendous achievement Federal Capital Territory, Akwa Ibom, Ondo, Oyo, Cross River to mentioned but a few.

The statement said that the anti-vandal unit in Ondo State command intercepted and seized 78kegs of 25 litres and 50 drums loaded with adulterated fuel from suspected vandals.

According to the statement, during the operations, 3 suspects were arrested, 2 cars was seized, 70 kegs of 25 litres of adulterated diesel in the Ore axis of Odigbo Local Government, Ondo State.

It added that two suspected vandals were arrested by the anti-vandals squad of the Cross River command, adding that the suspects had been charged to court.

The success story continued unabated in Akwa Ibom as two suspects were also arrested by the personnel of the command were charged to court and already convicted.

“The corps will have no stone left unturned in ensuring that government efforts in bringing about a new lease of life for its people and providing genuine social amenities was not truncated.

“National infrastructure is truncated by a few disgruntled and selfish individuals who are driven by greed and criminal tendencies to acquire wealth illegitimately,” the statement said.
