The youths of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, will Monday begin 73 hours of praise to bless the name of the Lord for sparing the leader of the church, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, who clocked 73 years on Monday.
A release by the leadership of the youth stated that the programme will be in conjunction with the music department of the church led by Pastor Kunle Ajayi.
The release further stated that the praises kick off by 2p.m. Monday and will be rounded off by 3pm on Thursday, 5 March 2015.
The release further stated that the purpose of the praise is to appreciate God for His mercy upon the church and its leader and to kick start the Special Holy Ghost Service which starts at 6:00p.m. on Thursday, 5, March 2015.
The organisers of the programme believe that this year’s event is a unique one because it coincides with the day Pastor Adeboye is 73.
This special hour of praise started in 2012 when Pastor Adeboye was 70 years. It was then 70 hours of praise. The following year, it was 71 hours of praise.
“If the Lord tarries, this is the way we will be doing it until God calls our daddy home, which I believe, it will still be a long time to come by the grace of God,” a source informed P.M.NEWS.
Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan has sent a congratulatory message to Adeboye on his 73rd birthday.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, Jonathan praised Adeboye for “the productive spiritual leadership which he (Adeboye) has continued to provide for members of his church and the body of Christ in the country.”
The Prsident’s letter to the General Overseer reads: “It gives me great pleasure to felicitate with you on the occasion of your 73rd birthday.
“Our administration and the Nigerian nation owe you a debt of gratitude for your prayerful support and the productive spiritual leadership you continue to provide, not just for the millions that constitute the membership of the Redeemed Christian Church of God across the world, but also for the entire body of Christ in Nigeria.
“On a personal level, I have left every meeting with you greatly strengthened and deeply inspired by your steadfast faith and commitment to the peace, stability, growth and development of our dear nation.
“I pray that Almighty God continues to imbue you with robust health and enduring fulfilment in the many more years of worthy service ahead of you.”
