A Charm offensive? Jonathan visits Babangida in Minna

President Goodluck Jonathan visited Nigeria’s former military president, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida in Minna, Niger State capital today.

The purpose was not stated, but we are aware that Babangida returned to Nigeria on 1 November after spending close to two months in Germany for medicare.

But the political dimension of the visit was not lost as Senator Ahmadu Ali, a former army colonel and Chairman of the Jonathan-Sambo re-election campaign was in the entourage.

Was the visit a charm offensive, to get the amiable general, called Maradona behind the campaign?
