Bolton Wanderers have re-signed Iceland striker Eidur Gudjohnsen until the end of the current season, the English second-tier club confirmed on Friday.

The 36-year-old was a huge hit with the fans at Bolton when he previously played there between 1998-2000.

Gudjohnsen went on to enjoy six successful seasons at Chelsea from where he then signed for Barcelona.

Bolton boss Neil Lennon has closely monitored Gudjohnsen’s progress as the out-of-contract striker trained at the Lancashire outfit over the last month.

“BWFC have completed the signing of free agent Eidur Gudjohnsen on a deal until the end of the season,” Bolton said on its official Twitter account on Friday.

Bolton, who are three points above the drop zone in 18th place, travel to Reading in the Championship this weekend.
