Students of Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), are having a swell time as their fourth consecutive Students’ Week is underway at the institution’s Ogba Campus in Lagos.

The week-long event which began on Monday has drawn celebrities from the entertainment industry as well as the corporate world to ensure that there is no dull moment throughout.

According to Matthew Ojebola, Chairman, planning committee for the event, the opportunity to give the students a breathing space away from academic activities, necessitated the event.

“This year’s edition tagged, ‘unusual is our slang’, is a way of telling everybody that we are doing something unusual here,” Ojebola said.

“And from what we have seen so far, it is quite far from the norm and we are hoping that the climax will be even better”.

In his address, Alhaji T. N. Bakare, Baale of Omole, encouraged the students to revive the cultural values which were the pride of the nation in the past.

The alumnus of the institution stated that with the revival of the nation’s customs and traditions, we would fare better in the larger society.

The lecture-free week will end officially on Saturday, 7 June, 2014 with a dinner night to celebrate the success of the event.

Alli Baba, Stephen Onu, a.k.a. Yaw, Tatafo, are among other top celebrities who graced the event.
