Star actress, Funke Akindele, has described reports that she has fallen in love with a new man and moved into a Lekki home provided by the new lover as false.
In a message sent to P.M.NEWS via her Public Relations representative, Akindele denied the rumours, claiming that the story circulating online and print media was fabricated, with the writer crediting to the usual anonymous sources with no concrete basis.
“I don’t know of any lover they are talking about. In the past few months I have enjoyed tremendous love from my fans, family and brands that I represent. I cherish every second I get to spend with my colleagues on sets because it has been rewarding. I look forward to many more precious moments in the years ahead,” Akindele said.
The 36-year old Jenifa star told P.M.NEWS that given her status, it is cheapening to claim that any imaginary lover paid for her apartment in Lekki, which she has moved into since last year.
According to her, she quietly relocated from her Ikeja residence to her Lekki home last year and considered it vainglorious to make the relocation a media issue just as it is degrading to claim any imaginary lover paid for the apartment.
Biodun Kupoluyi, Senior Strategist, Entertainment Media Limited and Akindele’s PR rep, also spoke to P.M.NEWS on the matter: “As much as Funke appreciates the concern of fans and a section of the media on this matter of the heart, she pleads for understanding as she continues to concentrate her creative energy on her career and immediate family.”
On behalf of his client, Kupoluyi pleaded and urged some sections of the media to endeavour to follow proper journalistic procedures in such a matter.
Meanwhile, the star actress has also used the opportunity to discredit the reports that there are moves to reconcile with her estranged husband, Kehinde Oloyede-Almaroof.
She described the purported reconciliation as false.
After an elaborate 3-in-1 society wedding in May 2012 in Lagos, the actress, in July last year, confirmed her separation from her husband of just over a year after the man had gone on the social media (Facebook) to announce the end of their 14-month old marriage.
