Following a successful debut in 2013, the Calabar International Jazz Festival, has announced an amazing line-up of superstars that will perform during this year’s edition.

For three nights (18–20 April), connoisseurs of Jazz, R&B and African dance music, will be treated to fabulous music of Hugh Masekela, Liquideep, Jimmy Dludlu and Micasa Music (all from South Africa), Timotha Lanae (USA), Gwyn Jay Allen (UK) and Nigerian stars Dare Art Alade, Yinka Davies and Kunle Ayo.

Speaking on behalf of broadcast partners, Alex Okosi, Senior VP and Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks Africa, MTV Base is happy to  broadcast Calabar International Jazz Festival once again.

“It brings a different edge to MTV Base and provides our audience with an eclectic mix of music and great live performances from artistes who deserve more exposure,” said Okosi.

In the same vein, Mo Abudu, EbonyLife TV CEO and popular chat show host, said the Jazz Festival is another great reason for people to visit Calabar.

The Calabar International Jazz Festival is the backbone of a great Easter weekend break for Nigerians, looking forward to escaping hectic city life in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.

In addition to the concerts, there will be fun day-time activities and tours for all the family, fabulous VIP after-parties, and, of course, an opportunity to sample some of the local delicacies which have made Calabar famous with food lovers.

While the concerts will light up the night at Calabar’s Cultural Centre, with a glittering array of music stars, the venue will play host to an intriguing range of daytime activities. Music Meets Photography brings together some of Nigeria’s most promising creative photographers with an audience seemingly addicted to being ‘snapped’, against a backdrop of live jazz and local music. Art lovers will be able to visit a gallery of beautiful paintings and sculpture, put together by Terra Kulture, in the large and imposing lobby.
