An official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, identified as Taye Shittu, has been arrested by the police at Pen Cinema Police Station for allegedly slapping a Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Komolafe Abimbola of Court 2 Ikeja, Lagos, western Nigeria.
She was on her way to the office around Pen Cinema area of Agege when the incident happened on Wednesday.
P.M.NEWS investigation revealed that Shittu accused Mrs. Abimbola of not obeying the traffic light and ordered her to come out of her car.

She was said to have obeyed Shittu’s instruction after which there was an argument between them. During the argument Shittu was said to have slapped Mrs. Abimbola and she sustained injury on her face.
The victim reported the assault at Pen Cinema Police Station and Shittu was promptly arrested by the police.
While confirming the incident, Lagos State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Damatus Ozoani, said the accused will be charged to court after the conclusion of police investigation.
An official of LASTMA who craved for anonymity, said the attitude of Shittu was an embarrassment to the authority.
A senior official of LASTMA who pleaded for anonymity also told P.M.NEWS that Shittu has been tried internally and was subsequently dismissed from LASTMA and handed over back to the police for prosecution.
“We have conducted a board room trial for him and he has been dismissed from the service. We have also handed him over back to the police for prosecution. We do not condone such act in LASTMA,’’ said the source.
As a result of the incident, P.M.NEWS learnt that the court Mrs. Abimbola is presiding over could not sit yesterday as litigants had to take adjourment for their cases.
When P.M.NEWS visited Pen Cinema Police Station this morning, Shittu was seen in handcuffs being taken to court by the police.
Attempts by our reporter to speak with Shittu proved futile as he refused to talk and also hid his face from camera.

This is a lesson for the bad eggs among them.
Majority of the lasman officials are tout, they lack moral and dignity, just few of them are better, there is no different between them and the police, they will never correct u even if u made a mistake, all they are after is how to extort money from every opportunity ,very sad

Shittu! A name for a stupid boy who lacks respect for Women..Y on earth will u raise ur hand up and slap another mans’ wife?if not that u re so foolish n lack morals u wouldn’t enagage in such.To the extent that u slapped a lagos state chief Magistrate..shittu I Doubt if u av a wife, mother, sister or daughter cos ur animality act has landed u in a wonDerful mansion in kirikiri..congrats as u use ur tenure..all the best!
The man is facing this “PUNISHMENT” because it involved a highly placed individual in the society. If it were an “ordinary” person, would he have been arrested not to talk of charging him to court. In Nigeria “All Animals are equal but some are more equal than others” I rest my case!
Im not saying what he did was/is right.. Infact, im totally against him for going that extreme n he should be penalized for that… But come to think of it, if it were an ordinary citizen that was slapped n he reported at the station, will the police arrest n charge the LASTMA to court??????Government just employed people into just posts without proper training and orientation on how to handle such matters?? shame !!!!!!!
I wish everyone of them who misbehave in the public should be prosecuted!
Shittu was a gentle man who spoke to me at pen cinema not to take risk and that I should always respect the public rules I know he did this out of frustration. But sincerely I hope he’s forgiven by the people and by the government. He will learn his lesson and the rest of LASTMA officials. Thank you.

We should all face the reality. We should leave politics, APC or Governor Fashola out of this Hydra-head LASTMAN called Shittu slaping a magistrate, he is one of the bad eggs. Fashola would not ask LASTMAN to slap anybody. Now that Shittu has been arrested he will not longer pay his daily contribution which they are despirate about. I hope his case will serve as a life-time lesson to others. The fear of LASTMAN is the begining of wisdom.
There are many taye shittus in lastma , all them claiming to work for lagos. All lagosians are tired of LASTMA and their Founding fathers. We are all anxiously waiting for 2015 to push them out. Governance without human face.
!
Please to everyone posting comments here, I want all to ignore Paul because he is just looking for relevance, if we ignore his senseless comments he will be disgraced out of this forum! because he has nothing to contribute, rather we should look for a way to locate and get him to hospital for free treatment. thanks
@anonymous,you ‘ve said it all.I’m very sure this is not his time of commiting the barberic act but to the non prominent people. My question is that, does the prominent people have a diffrent constitution?because,I’m very sure if it were to be a common man on the street nothing would have happened.

Animal…He should be allowed to rot in jail
That serve the idiot called Taye shittu right but if not that Mrs. Komolafe Abimbola is magistrate does it mean that Taye Shittu will slap an innocent Nigerian and get away with it? This shows what an average Nigeria go through in the hands of Tinubu’s touts. Taye should be charged and send to jail for assault.
Paul,
what has APC and Fashola got to do with this case na? Why would people like you always politicise?
If you are invited to come and explain how Fashola has been a disgrace with regards to Shitu’s case now, u go wee wee for pant.
This is too little compared with what traffic police on blood-red uniform does in Edo State, they are all thugs and feel very proud to proclaim such, lawlessness dances in their blood, looking for crime from no where,I pity APC States!
it is act of lack of control in public work or duty.
I think this LASTMA people should have a monitoring unit.it is not only in agege, it’s all over Lagos, some of them that have been dismissed you still see them on the road collecting money.
The question is, if the person he slaped wasn’t the Chief Magistrate, would he still have been tried n dismissied? Would the police have responded the way have? I’m sure this is not his 1st time of assulting people but his cup became full the day he did it to a prominent person. Lesson to all these people who thinks they are the almighty in uniform.
Both The Magistrate & Shittu committed offence as both took law into their hands by driving against d trafic & d other assault, thus; they should b punished according 2 their respective offences if rule of law is to prevailed.

Paul, see how you’ve made yourself. Everybody knows you are a senseless moron. I pity you. Shame on you. Stupid boy.
Taye Shittu, i told you last year on good Friday when you illegally impounded my car that your sadist behavior will put you in trouble before another good Friday, now you are on the fast lane to Kirikiri where you truly belong.
Fashola is beta 4 u to stop all dz ur officials call kai and lastma bc d big one ar coming tanx
This type of thing happens daily, and never get reported. This one only got reported because a prominent person. LASTMA is populated by touts in uniform.
Pls for give and forget thanks
Please let Paul alone, if u have been reading his comments, u will know he is frustrated. Even his brother Oshi will write worst.
This same LASTMA official delayed me for close to an hour at Pen cinema on monday claiming I beat the traffic light thanks for the intervention of the mobile policemen attached to my office. He is full of issues and lies a lot. Serves him right anyway. He had ordered me to come down from my car but I refused. We were on the same spot for almost an hour.
Thank God mr shitu slap a prominent person asumlng he slap a common man d
rest would av bn story anyway that wil teach others some lesson
@ paul I can see u dnt have brain u ar just like the LASTMA SHITTU y can’t u think b4 u say anything u ar a big fool
LASTMA SHITTU, Bye Bye.
Bad day Devil drink water.
LASTMA TAYE SHITTU. Bye, Bye. You are going to jail for a long time. I warned you on February 12 at pen cinema. Didn’t I? Stop slapping people, you don’t know who is who but you didn’t listen. You have lost your job in addition to wasting sometime in prison. you brought this upon yourself. I wish you listened to my advice.
Sensible people have spoken, let me not add to the woes of that senseles and stupid paul
@Paul.you are senseless for saying bad about fashola. Is fashola the one that gave him orders to slap people.Lagos doesn’t condone indiscipline, shittu will surely face the music.
An average Nigerian man behaves like Shittu; quick to anger and ever ready to assault on the slightest provocation, even worse when they are in law enforcement uniforms.
Very good comment.
Very much as Shitu’s behavior showed level of ignorance displayed by Nigerians in position of authority. My main concern is people like Paul. It is disheartening the way some people approach an issue. How on earth do you relate the incident to Fashola or APC. I am sorry for this country.

I believe that this is not Fashola’s doing but it is the trade mark of APC? Go to Edo State, Adams’ Traffic Policemen are worst.
a good lesson for other uniform men who feel unnecessarily important while in uniform. Is a diagrace to Lastma. Capital NO to state Police.
LASTMA official slapped magistrate?
This is another reason why Nigeria is not yet ripe for state police.
Shitu should be made to rot in jail. Why? because he is a disgrace to that uniform and to that office, Even if the supposed offender is a little child, there is no law that says LASTMA or other government agencies should take the law into their hands. And probably might not have been his first of doing so, this happened to a well reputable person because Shitu’s cup of lawlessness is full.
Are u a daft? If fashola gave him job was he asked to slap an offender or even a woman?
This is how APC want to ruins their self not us.
FASHOLA is a big disgrace
Mr. Paul, this is not politics, this is an individual. We are talking about individual-so, keep politics out of this. After-all, there are many LASTMA officials that are well behaved, well cultured and well enlightened. Shitu only displayed publicly what he use to do to his wife at home, he is a wife-beater type of man-shame on him.-Andrew Ojiezel
APC or FASHOLA will not ”RUINS” you , from your comment it’s obvious you’ve already ”RUINS” yourself ….. LWTMB OO!!
@Paul i dont think you are normal
Paul, do not politicize everything. Apply some reasoning. That the man was punished for doing what is wrong is commendable. That will act as a deterent to others like him. I therefore do not understand the basis for your unintelligent comment.
