The Speaker on a visit to Abeokuta commends Gov. Amosun for urban renewal

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal today expressed concern over the suspension of Central Bank Governor, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, saying it could send a wrong signal to foreign Investors.

Tambuwal who arrived at the home of the former President at about 10.35am alongside the Deputy Minority Leader of the House, Kawu Sumaila, Hon. Ajibola Muraina of Ibarapa Central/North and Aminu Shagari of Yabo/Shagari federal constituencies went into a closed door meeting with the former president which lasted for almost an hour.

Tambuwal described Obasanjo as a leader in Africa who needed to be consulted on matters of national interest.

” We needed to consult our leaders on such very important and vital legislation before we conclude what we are doing on them and electoral act is likely to be amended. So, from his wealth of experience, we needed some input from Baba,” Tambuwal maintained.

On his defection to the opposition party,All Progressives Congress,APC, Tambuwal insisted that he and Chief Obasanjo remain members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

“I am just visiting our national leader of PDP, myself and Baba are in PDP,” he insisted.

In another development, Tambuwal has commended the on-going urban renewal programme in Ogun State,during his visit to Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

He commended the state government for its successes so far in terms of infrastructural development, noting that it has re-defined the landscape of the state.

“I was even asking myself where the governor has gotten the money for these laudable road projects. This is my first official visit to Abeokuta and I can tell you that I am impressed by what I have seen.

“Sometimes last year, I was in Ijebu-Ode and I saw what the governor is doing there too. Now that I have seen what he is doing here in Abeokuta, I must commend him and the government for the wonderful work they are doing here”,Tambuwal praised.

While appreciating the people of the state for showing understanding without any crisis, the Speaker said, “this means that they have adopted the projects as theirs and they are convinced that it is for their own good.”

He urged the people to continue to give more support to the present administration in the state,emphasizing that, “once we finish elections, there is no more party or partisan politics. There can never be better politics than politics of development and this is what we have seen in Ogun State,” Tambuwal said.
