Okoye constituted the investigation team led by the Command’s Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of investigation, ACP Aminu Alhassan, and directed the team to carry out thorough investigation into the incident.

The team was set up in his office Friday after meeting with top officers of the Command to deliberate on the violent clash Thursday.

According to the statement, “CP Okoye expressed his disappointment in those who cast aspersions on the police of complicity and/or bias in the crisis; and considered it as unfair, since some policemen too were injured in the crisis and the police officers present at the scene performed their official duties diligently.”

He stressed further that the Command will not in anyway be involved in any political game since such will be contrary to the ethics of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Command therefore advised politicians in the state to play politics with decorum and in line with the ethics of politics as a profession, adding that “those involved in any political thuggery or crisis will not be speared.”
