Kidnapped Lebanese national dumped on the outskirts of Kano

A Lebanese national, Mr Hassan Zaid(initially spelled as Zein) who was kidnapped on Monday by unknown persons, has been released by his abductors.

This is contained in a statement issued on Friday in Kano by the Police Command in Kano and signed by the command’s Spokesman, ASP Magaji Majia.

“Mr Hassan (Zaid) was found by a team of policemen abandoned on the outskirts of Sharada (area of Kano) unhurt,” the statement said.

It added that Zaid had reunited with his family and that the search for the perpetrators continued.

Zaid, owner of MC Plastics factory was kidnapped on Monday by unknown persons at the Sharada Industrial Area.

Five assailants stormed the factory compound and seized Zaid as he got out of his car in the car park, witnesses said.

Shots were fired into the air, sending workers rushing inside for safety. A security guard and a female employee were shot and wounded.

Kidnappings for ransom are common in Nigeria, with scores of foreigners, include those from the sizeable Lebanese community, targeted every year.
