AfricaMagic Announces 2014 AMVCA Nominees

The nominations for the second edition of the 2014 AfricaMagic Viewers Choice Awards will be announced in a two-pronged event on Thursday,  5 December,  in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria. The award was first launched in September 2012,

The nominees, from the best and brightest in African film and television, will be unveiled at the grand nomination ceremony to coincide with AfricaMagic’s 10th Anniversary celebration.

Joining the AfricaMagic family on stage to reveal the nominations and add colour to the event are some of the big names in Africa’s TV and film.

The nomination announcement will be hosted by presenters, Vimbai Mutinhiri and Lawrence Maleka in a live broadcast.

Joining them on stage will be AfricaMagic Jara presenters, Helen Paul and Uti Nwachukwu

The judging panel, which convened in Johannesburg, South Africa to lend its expertise to the nominations process, was led by film maker and documentary veteran, Femi Odugbemi.

Odugbemi in a media session explained the level of professionalism and dedication the judging panel exhibited through out the process.

Entries for the awards scheduled to have closed on 18 October was extended to 1 November, as TV and film practitioners across the continent submitted entries in droves.

Hundreds of entries have so far been received across Africa, showing  a high level of participation, which also confirms the success of the maiden edition.
