Globacom Savour W/Cup Ticket With Eagles

Sponsor of Nigerian national football teams, Globacom, has lauded the exploits of the Super Eagles in securing one of the African tickets for the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The Eagles overwhelmed hard fighting Walya Ibex of Ethiopia 2-0 in Calabar to qualify on a 4-1 aggregate for the World Cup.

Globacom described the outgoing year 2013 as a good year for Nigerian football. The telecommunication company noted that Nigeria started the year on a high and ended it on a high.

“Triple congratulations to a Blessed Nation. by winning the African Cup of Nations in February, the Under 17 World Cup few days ago and now qualifying for the World Cup, Nigeria’s football is clearly on the ascendancy,” Glo said in a statement at the weekend.

The company congratulated the Super Eagles’  players and thanked them for the great honour they have done their fatherland. It also thanked football supporters across the country, particularly the Nigerian Football Supporters Club headed by Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, also sponsored by Globacom for  their unrelenting support for the Eagles and all the national teams.

Glo also congratulated the government and sports administrators for adopting the right measures to energise Nigerian football and restoring the country’s supremacy in continental and global tournaments.

“Prior to this year, Nigeria which was once revered as the true giant of African football, took the back seat while other nations took the shine,” the statement said.

“We are exceedingly delighted to savour this glorious moment with other Nigerians. Our series of success stories in international football competitions has restored our pride? and rekindled our hope.”
