•Mercy Johnson: Faces ban

Over the weekend, English movie marketers in the country reached a decision to ban actress Mercy Johnson. The decision, which was reached after series of meeting, was on grounds that she charges outrageous fees to appear in movies.

Mercy was said to be charging about N1million before going on maternity break, and after she returned, her fee allegedly sky rocketed to N1.8million. The marketers said this development is unacceptable. The ban is expected to take effect from 1 January, 2014.

Meanwhile, the marketers’ action has been greeted with criticisms from Mercy’s fans, who started hurling abusive words on the businessmen on social media.

“They never believed Mercy has a large followership like that. Deliberations have resumed on the issue, and any moment from now, it will be decided if the ban should still stand or not,” the source said.
