Court Enforces Order On Mainstreet Bank

Operations at Mainstreet Bank in Makurdi were interrupted for 30 minutes on Thursday when policemen and court bailiffs came to enforce an order of Benue High Court.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the High Court Judge, Justice Adam Onum had on 31 July, ordered the bank to pay N560,000 as damages to Mr Epie Adzape, a civil servant.

Adzape had complained that the bank deducted the sum of N60,000 from his salary account without his consent.

The police, led by Cpl. Joel Ochefu and the bailiffs, led by Chief Bailiff Julius Uyer, took away the bank’s Toyota Corolla car with registration number FH 586 AAR and a bullion van to the court premises.

Uyer told NAN that the vehicles would be auctioned at the expiration of two weeks if the bank’s management failed to obey the court’s order.
