Nigeria is investigating attacks on its embassy in Guinea Bissau and the death of some of its citizens during the attack, the Federal Government said on Wednesday.

Reuben Abati, spokesperson to President Goodluck Jonathan told reporters that the Minister of Foreign Affairs briefed members of the Federal Executive Council on the attack on Nigerians in Guinea Bissau yesterday by an angry mob.

According to him, Nigeria has already protested to the Guinea Bissau authority.

“The Nigeria Ambassador to Guinea Bissau has been directed to take up the issue with Guinea Bissau authority while the matter is being investigated”, Abati told reporters while reiterating that the Jonathan administration will not waiver in protection of the rights of Nigerians wherever they may be.
