Big Brother Africa winner, Karen Igho, never seems tired of being in the spotlight, but this time for the wrong reason.
On Sunday, 8 September, the reality television star stirred the hornets’ nest when she posted semi-nude pictures of herself lounging around a swimming pool on Instagram, a social media site.
Immediately the pictures started circulating, she received a barrage of verbal attacks from numerous fans who felt disgusted that she could share such private pictures. While some even considered Karen’s toned body as too masculine and the boobs fake, others were peeved that she would post her semi nude pictures without taking cognisance of her unshaved armpit.
“Is that hair I’m seeing in her armpit?” an anonymous fan of her had queried. Another commentator named Arielle went further: “Nice body, but wetin make she no cum shave her armpit, abi she forget to bleach that part too?”
One commentator simply named Memphis on Stella Dimoko’s blog went sarcastic in her defence: “Na wa for all of una wey de shout “armpit”. Do you expect Karen of all people to come out like this in public without shaving her pits? Her pits are shaved biko, just that they are dark for some reason. Could be pigmentation, could be bleaching, who knows.”
Another commentator said “Paparazzi follow Oyinbo celebrities relentlessly, doing all sorts to sneak in on them and take some pictures. But here they use their hands to take the pictures and distribute to media houses and blogs.”
“This is mere irritating throwing up and not to think that those are as fake as my love for my first boyfriend…any guy that drools over this is either a dog or is purely classless…if you guys like say its jealousy, but I will rather be jealous of my great grandmother’s flabby boobs than this eyesore…trashy,” another disgusted fan wrote.
Showbiz Trends observed that showing off their bodies in bikini and sharing the photos on Instagram seems to be the new fad among artistes and celebrities.
Sometime last year, Karen cried out on Twitter that her computer had been hacked into and was scared some of her private pictures have found their way to the public sphere. But few weeks later, she leaked some pictures of herself in bra and panties.
Prior to that, more explicit pictures of her surfaced on the internet while she was still in the Big Brother house. And a lot of her friends defended her that those shots were photoshoped. But with these new pictures on her Instagram page, some critics said it is obvious Karen must be playing pranks with a view to remain relevant in the news.
