P-Square Dazzles With US/Canada Tour

The on-going tour of the US and Canada by multiple award-winning group, P-Square, has been a huge success so far.

The tour train, which revved off about three weeks ago, has already arrived Chicago, Houston and Toronto, while Vancouver and Calgary will host the twin brothers and their band this weekend.

Peter, who proposed to his heartthrob, Lola Omotayo before embarking on the tour, was said to have given out expensive Rolex wristwatches during the concerts, while his twin brother, Paul jumped into the waiting hands of the excited crowd.

The sold-out tour has been described as one of the most successful by an African artiste in recent times.

Pastor Premieres New Album

Pastor Feyisayo Ojo has released his first gospel album, God Never Fails. The album, which is in both video and audio, has already been launched and will be in the market any time from now.

The album has seven tracks, such as I’ll Praise Your Name, God Has Never Failed, Kiniun Eya Judah, Hosanna in the Highest, In Every Land By Everyman, You are the One and I’m Coming Home.

Ojo, a pastor with the Life Changer Word Ministries, Ikeja, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, said the work was purely his initiative, adding that he decided to release the album in fulfilment of God’s divine call and mandate to reach out to souls through music.

“Singing has been part of me as I a child. I could sing a whole tape of Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey off hand. My music trait came to the limelight during my service year as I was appointed the NCCF Music Director at the state level in Kebbi State,” the Ondo-born gospel singer explained.

Ojo said he had no formal training in music, but naturally endowed.

He stated that his album will stand him out among other gospel albums in the market. His music role models are Don Moen, Bob Fitts, Bola Are, and Evang Toun Soetan.

Tope Anointing Set To Debut

Gospel singer, Temitope Olusegun Akinlawon, a.k.a. Tope Anointing, will soon release his debut album Anointing Vessel.

The album, according to Tope is a three tracker, namely Ewa Bami Gbega, Ojumo To Mo Mi Loni and Oselu Nigeria which is a special song directed at politicians. Anointing, as Tope is popularly called, said that he started as a backup singer with Elijah Akinade’s CAC Lion of Judah Choir before he formed his own band in 1996. The band is known as Tope Anointing and His Loggos Band International.

The singer, who is currently recording at a private studio in Lagos, said the album will be released before the end of the year under KMart records.

Gospel singer, Erelu Sunshine Akinyele has released her debut album, Power Of Prayer. The event took place at the opening ceremony of the 61st annual convention of The Redeemed Christian Church of God.

She had earlier released two singles, Victory Songs 1&2 between 1999 and 2002.

Erelu Sunshine, also known as Mother of Nation, said the new effort is a combination of several scriptural resources for the benefit of mankind.

Produced by Laolu Akins, Power of Prayer was written by Pastor Tope and Feyisola Akinyele recorded it. It was mixed at Excel Studios, Ikeja, Lagos.

The album is marketed by Dapat Music Nationwide.

Lady Evangelist Itunu Segun Oseni is set to release her first album, Alanu Mi.

Some tracks of the album are already enjoying airplay within and outside Lagos. Evang Oseni says her style of gospel is unique “because it carries the message of God to comfort the soul of people.”

The album is marketed by Segun Oseni Production and the official launch comes up on 12 October.

 

DJ Jimmy Jatt Is DJAN President

Africa’s leading Disc Jockey, Jimmy Amu, popularly known as DJ Jimmy Jatt has been elected the president of Disc Jockey Association of Nigeria, DJAN.

At the association’s congress held recently at the Quarter Jack on Ogunlana Drive, Surulere, Lagos, Jimmy Jatt was elected alongside other executive members to pilot the affairs of the music presenters’ body for the next two years.

Other executive members elected are DJ Kola Baiye (Vice President), DJ Peter Viva (General Secretary), DJ Maze (Assistant Secretary), DJ Music (Treasurer) and DJ Temple (Financial Secretary).

Also elected are DJ Shine Mickey (Publicity Secretary), DJ Oz (Assistant Publicity Secretary), Female DJ Sugar (Social Secretary), DJ Maxi Lee (Provost) and DJ Kalakuta (Assistant Provost).

In his acceptance speech, Jimmy Jatt promised on behalf of his team to take the association to the next level. He assured that he will run an all-inclusive and open door policy.

Jatt went on to solicit for the support of all other members to enable him take the business of disc jockeying to an enviable height.
